Chicago- suggestions?

My sisters and I and some friends are staying overnight in Chicago on a weekend- we’re having a girls weekend away- no kids or husbands! We’re staying at the Holiday Inn on Wabash – right downtown- What are some good evening activites/clubs/bars you would recommend? I lived in Wicker Park for 2 years before I had kids- (that was about 8 years ago).. so taking the El anywhere or what-not isn’t a problem, I am familiar with all of that- however when I lived in Chicago, I wasn’t 21- so I wouldn’t have the slightest clue as to where to go to get our drink on- (not to mention lots can change in 8 years)… Any ideas? Suggestions?

Hit the Rush Street area, the Wicker park area, River North, Lincoln Park area or the Wrigleyville area. Places like Jilly’s, The Redhead Piano Bar, Soundbar, Funky Buddah, The Note, etc. are great places to drink and party. For food, try Carmine’s on Rush, Adobo Grill, Piece pizza restaurant, Crust, .. casual places with great food.

For alternative activities, look into the comedy clubs like Second City, Zanies, iO Theater or the Annoyance theaters. Many of them have inexpensive shows featuring up and coming comedy talent.

Finally, for live music, check out The Note, Double Door or Subterreanian in Wicker Park, Kingston Mines or B.L.U.E.S in Lincoln Park or the Wild Hair in Wrigleyville for reggae.

There are ton of fun opportunties for women to have fun in the city. I’d pick up a copy of Time Out Chicago magazine to see what is going on that particular week.
