Free (or at least really cheap) things to do in Chicago?

So I’m moving to Chicago to escape the boredom of this conservative suburb. But I want to stay in school, which means less time working, which means I’m basically going to be broke.
Just wondering what are some things to do in Chicago on a budget? I know there are all those fun thrift stores in Wicker Park…what else? (I’m 19 btw.)
Also I’m moving to Wrigleyville so if you know anything to do in that area especially please do tell

Chicago has great things to do for very little cash. (And more for BIG money)
But people watching costs you nothing and is the best activity.
Get a good guide book – like Top 10 Best Chicago and there will be guide tours that you can take yourself and learn about the architecture and history.
Millennium park is fabulous
Take your bike for a ride along the lake
Tuesday is free day at the Art Institute
Lincoln park is allays free
The other museums also have good discounts for students.
Enjoy!!!
