Outdoor garden furniture often leads to thoughts of wicker, but wicker can go further than just furniture in your garden. Wicker is sturdy and robust, and of course a pleasure to look at. No doubt it makes good furniture, but it has other uses as well. The wicker basket, for example, can be used in numerous ways in the garden.

One  good use for a small wicker basket is to use it as a flower pot. Because of the weave of the material, wicker baskets can be very suitable as flower pots simply because they allow water to drain through them. This stops your plant from sitting in stagnant water. The small holes and gaps typically found in a small wicker basket are also great for letting air into the soil and allowing your plant to breathe.

Another interesting use that has been made of small baskets in the garden is to use them as bird feeders. If there is one thing about a basket with a handle, it is that they are very easy to hang up. All you have to do is literally, swing the handle of the basket over a branch of a tree or any other solid thing and it will stay put with very little effort. You can then put some nuts, seeds, bread or any other kind of bird food in the basket and there you have it, an instant, cute looking bird feeder that will look great in your garden.

If you are thinking of buying a small wicker basket then you should not have too much trouble finding one. They are very inexpensive and can be picked up conveniently from most garden stores as well as from household stores and some DIY stores if you are lucky.
