Have you ever watched “Trading Spaces” the television show? Remember how it was such a hot show with all those famous interior designers like Vern Kip. Well my wife and I used to sit and watch it together, that is when it was so popular. Anyway that is the first time I heard the word slipcover. And even saw them use the slipcover to refresh furniture and give a brighter out look.

Well just like the craze of “Trading Spaces” my wife and I have been on redesigning kicks and home improvement. Well on our last redesign we were having a very difficult time with our budget. We had taken on a large project and our budget was very thin and we were looking at needing a new couch. This was something that both my wife and I wanted.

In our effort looking for a new couch that would fit our needs we would find one that we liked but price was an issue. Then we would go searching and find another but the color wouldn’t work. When we happened to find one that the color was right it was like sitting on a rock. We even resorted to going to an interior designer friend and she couldn’t do anything to help us. We were so discouraged till one night we were watching TV in bed. What do you know we were looking for some ideas from an old episode of our favorite show “Trading Spaces” that is when it dawned on us.

In all of our efforts in searching out our dream couch set we were looking for our couch we had now just spruced up a bit and in the right color. And in this episode they had already spent most of their budget and needed a solution to their issue of fixing up the existing furniture. Now don’t ask me why but they even looked into reupholstering the existing couch (I think it was for the benefit of the viewers). That in some cases was more expensive than getting a whole new couch. In the long run the ended up making a slipcover in the perfect cover. Although my wife and I pretend to be savvy in the designing of our home neither of us can remotely use a sewing machine well enough to fit our couch the way we wanted.

 

We were very sketched out having seen some poorly fit slipcovers in the past, but we knew what we wanted and found a company through this website. We didn’t want one of those slip covers that just fits over the whole couch where you have to continually tuck and pull it to make it look right. We wanted something made for our couch. We found a maker who you send the measurements and they make it to your specifications. Not only that but they employed some techniques that helped to fasten the cover in place without compromising the aesthetic aspect. They even made individual covers for each cushion, taking our slipcover to new heights. All in all I still have my couch that is perfectly broken in for Monday night football and comfy enough to snuggle with the wife and enjoy “Trading Spaces” too.

Don’t give up you can find any type or color of slipcover and we have even taken it to a different level in sending our own material to have it made. Thank goodness for slipcovers is all I think when my wife and I go for a ride on my new Harley Davidson which were have been able to afford due fully in part to the money we have saved keeping our furniture and getting slipcovers.
