Beeswax…?

haha this is a random question but i am intruigued to know the answers…. so today i bought some chapstick made of beeswax.. and i was wondering Where exactly does beeswax come from? obviously bees. but how do they make it or whatever and how does it turn into wax? i looked up a little on it and it just said they secrete it and then chew it up and it forms into wax in their combs.. so what does that mean i am putting on my lips haha. anyways, and so if someone were allergic to bees could they not use this either? (sorry i have obviously been thinking a little TOO much about this… lol.. oh man..) anyways if anyone can shed some thoughts on this it’d be great and help a bunch!!! have a great day everyone! and Thanks for answering.. cuz it is a pretty dumb question i do admit. but oh well :)

Hm, I don’t know exactly what it is that bees use to make wax (I know that wasps use paper and tree matter to make their nests, but that’s kind of off topic), but I do know that they combine it with their saliva to make wax, which makes up most of the inside structure of their hives. The wax is formed into hexagonal sections, each of which is filled with honey (which is a by-product of pollen and something else, maybe more saliva?). Anyways, when chapstick says it is made with beeswax it doesn’t mean that it’s just a block of wax straight from the hive. There’s still normal chapstick ingredients in it (oils, vitamins and whatnot).
